About me

Adam Maghout is a singer, guitarist, and violinist who began playing classical guitar at the age of five in Saint-Louis, a small town in northeastern France. His father, a casual guitar player himself, filled the house with blues classics from Muddy Waters to Eric Clapton. At thirteen, encouraged by a school music teacher to enter a singing competition (which he promptly lost), Adam discovered his voice. From that point on, he began writing his own songs and sharing them online. He studied guitar under Pierre Specker, a renowned folk guitarist from Alsace, and briefly played in a few local bands that came and went.

Adam later moved to Leeds in the UK to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Music, releasing several projects during the pandemic, including his EP ‘Prelude to Nothing’. When not attending lectures on Pierre Schaeffer or the cognitive benefits of music in children, he could often be found performing in Leeds pubs, sometimes joined by multi-instrumentalist Miles O’Sullivan or his father on harmonica.

After graduating, Adam relocated to Utrecht in the Netherlands to complete a Master’s degree, this time in a field entirely unrelated to music. He now works as a junior psychometrician at Cito in Arnhem. You can learn more about his academic work here.

Alongside his professional career, Adam remains deeply involved in music. He is a member of the award-winning Utrecht-based choir Dekoor Close Harmony, performing at major venues such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht. As a solo artist, he continues to write and perform his own music, an intimate blend of folk and pop that resists genre boundaries but always circles back to his first love: the acoustic guitar. It’s the instrument through which he writes best—alone in his room, watching the world fly by.
